From a castle far from Krystyna's home, the evil power sends out emissaries of darkness and destruction--even commanding forces of nature to create devastating storms. At the castle itself, black legions guard a small, magic box crafted by an ancient wizard, a box containing powers that, if unleashed, will drown the world in darkness.

In frightening circumstances, Krystyna undertakes a perilous journey to the castle. She carries the golden key to the wizard's magic box, a key Krystyna has possessed from the time she was a baby and stolen away from her mother by her nurse.
