Description

The Guns of Shiloh, a complete story in itself, is the complement of The Guns of Bull Run. In The Guns of Bull Run the Civil War and its beginnings are seen through the eyes of Harry Kenton, who is on the Southern side. In The Guns of Shiloh the mighty struggle takes its color from the view of Dick Mason, who fights for the North and who is with Grant in his first great campaign. The Guns of Shiloh, published in 1913, covers the period from July 1861 through the battles of Mill Springs (19 Jan 1862), was known by the Confederate Army as the Battle of Fishing Creek; Fort Donelson (11-16 Feb 1862); and Shiloh (6-7 Apr 1862).

Author Biography:

Ryan K Englund has been a management consultant for more than three decades. In his writing and presentations for business he conveys principles through stories. His clients have earned several billion dollars with his counsel (ignoring, of course, one trillion-dollar misfortune). He has deep experience bringing peace in a world that seems to have more than a few bullies. Ryan also knows how it feels to fail and, with no power, how to get things done. Business is his vocation; stories are his nature. Ryan and Mary, his wife of 42 years, participate as multiple characters in his semi-autobiographical novels. They also play roles in novels exploring historical turning points in which their ancestors engaged. Mary and Ryan are the parents of six children and 13 grandchildren. They have lived in California, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
