Description

This is a story told by a master story teller, illustrated by a master designer, about the creation and future of man. Without denominational slant, an excellent exposition enjoyable by adults, targeted toward children, and overall mezmerizing in content, color, and character depiction. A great gift for children of all ages. Finding a well-written book, about man's purpose, his origins, his potential, past, present, and future promise of happiness and eternal security is not something new in today's marketplace. But to find such a book that speaks so clearly and down-to-earth about things so often skewed to the theological preferences and filters of the author is a treasure. Just a matter-of-fact telling of Eternal God's plan and love for His grand and beloved creation. Why would an adult want to purchase and read a children's book? Perhaps it is because this illustrated and marvelously worded book tells the creation story in such a way as to be satisfying to the most educated, discerning, and searching minds whatever age they may be. It is interesting, flows smoothly, transitions appropriately and culminates in an exciting and wonderful promise and announcement that all students of the Bible look forward to, and all men and women should take comfort and joy in looking forward to. This is a coffee table book with which to sit on the couch with the kids and read it aloud, turning each page and collectively drinking in the art, colors, characters, and written wisdom of an excellent author. These prize literature finds are becoming rare today. I highly recommend this interesting book as a gift, a door opener to teach children about God and man.

Author Biography:

Rebecca Emery is a wife, a mother of four grown children, a former homeschooling mom, and a kindergarten teacher in a Christian school. She grew up in a conservative Christian home and was an active member of of local churches wherever she went. While trying to please the God about whom she had been taught for so many years, Along the way, Rebecca somehow missed the beautiful message of God's love and grace until she was twenty-five. She began to see that most children also miss this essential part of God's Story. When asked why God should let them come to Heaven, their answers would almost always be "because I don't do bad things" or "because I do good things." While the Christian school where Rebecca taught was in a transition phase of choosing a Bible curriculum for kindergarten, Rebecca began talking to her class about God and His wonderful plan for their lives - beginning in Genesis and going to the end of time. While kindergarten age children are not always ready to think on the specifics of sin and they do not always see their need for salvation, Rebecca wanted them to have an accurate picture of our loving and gracious God and His plan for their lives. What finally became The History of God's World, is a simple retelling of the many class discussions that year - most of which were prompted by questions from her kindergartners. Often, her class was not ready for Bible Time to be over and sometimes cheered during special times in the telling of God's Story. Rebecca was encouraged by the children's thoughtful questions and their desire to know the truth about God. For younger children, Rebecca recommends a passionate oral reading of one chapter at a time, stopping for questions from the child and followed by questions from the reader if needed.
