Which tells a tale that takes place in the roughest part of Africa; focusing entirely on the suddenly changed life of a child named Kino, who upon returning to his tiny village, discovers it in complete devastation, largely damaged and burning to the ground. The love story told refers to the child in desperate search for his beloved mother, as he discovers that the village was invaded by a rebel group, and his mother taken hostage to keep the government's military at bay. But for this rescue mission to be a successful one, he will need the help of the only remaining rebel soldier he came upon as he entered the emptiness left behind by his collaborators. Whether he likes it or not, this rebel soldier will find himself embarking in a seemingly endless adventure, with no other choice but to assist the child in his endeavor and do exactly as told, because as he will soon discover, the boy has a potential unlike any other he has ever encountered.
