This was a good book. I found it a little hard to get into and maintain my attention but, that could have just been me and nothing to do with Defoe's writing. So I will recommend this to anyone who enjoys pirate novels and classic literature.

Description

Soon after the success of his beloved classic Robinson Crusoe in 1719, Defoe wrote this thrilling tale of high-seas adventure. In a firsthand account, colorful rogue Captain Avery pens a letter of defense against scandalous accusations. In doing so, he draws a rousing portrait of pirate life - deadly deeds, plundered treasure, and a perilous journey to Madagascar.

Author Biography:

Considered on of the founders of the English novel, Daniel Defoe was a prolific writer who published over 500 novels, travel guides, pamphlets and journals on subjects from economics to the supernatural. His most famous work, Robinson Crusoe, endeared him to readers worldwide.
