This movie is awesome. Its serious, its funny, it's exciting and keeps you enthralled all the way through. Matt Damon rocks.
When astronauts blast off from the planet Mars, they leave behind Mark Watney (Matt Damon), presumed dead after a fierce storm. With only a meager amount of supplies, the stranded visitor must utilize his wits and spirit to find a way to survive on the hostile planet. Meanwhile, back on Earth, members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crew mates hatch their own plan for a daring rescue mission.
The Martian is a 2015 American science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon. The film is based on Andy Weir's 2011 novel of the same name, which was adapted into a screenplay by Drew Goddard.
COVER ARTWORK NOT FINAL
The Martian is the kind of sci-fi movie I've been wanting for a long time-one where science takes center stage and the wondrous, awe-inspiring things that happen all stem from people solving problems using their brains, working collaboratively. – Nerdist
Bringing optimism, nerd-itude and a touch of crazy to his character's solo ordeal – at one point, scraggly Watney calls himself a “space pirate” – Damon is the key to the movie's exuberance. – Time Out
What's so stirring about the film is that, before and after everything else, it truly is about being human. – Wall Street Journal
