If the reader wish to take a view of the moral condition of Degreesthe summons iii heathen lands, whose wretched ignorance and abominable superstitions call loudly for Christian sympathy, he may take a partial view by consulting such general articles as Ajh'ca, Burmah, Ceylon, China, Hindostan, Jews, North American Indians, Palestine, Persia, Siberia, South dime rice, Tartary' Thibet, Turkey, and the like; and if he sigh over these vast regions of gross moral darkness, where the prince of the power of the air holds the hundreds of millions of his subiects in cruel bondage, by consulting those names in their alpha betical place, which are printed in italic letters, at the end of each general article, he will he pointed to the day-star, aris ing in their hearts, to the places where the standard 'of the cross is erected by the Christian Soldier, and liberty pro claimed to the captives.
