Mark, Sara and Alice Kemp are lucky enough to live near a little preserved steam railway just down the road from their house in Hotham Village - you can hear the trains hoot and see the gated level crossing and the signal box from their bedroom window. The children have also become entranced by a beautiful detailed model railway kept in the garden shed next door - but an altercation between Master model-maker, Donald, and his mother Mrs Wartsanall, whom he accuses of being an old witch, unleashes a sequence of strange and magical events -

Author Biography

Nigel Scott was born in 1953 and has lived in various counties of South East England. He attended grammar school where English and art were his best subjects. He went onto working in advertising before moving to Brighton. Nigel is a keen cyclist, reads a lot and enjoys listening to classical music and exploring his beloved Sussex, keeping up a lifelong interest in preserved steam railways.
