Description

Mike King's Sunday night radio show on Radio Live - The Nutters' Club - is hugely popular because it's a forum where those with all manner of mental health issues can discuss their stories in a warm and accepting environment. Mike asks the questions and leads the guests through their story and he and psychiatrist David Codyre (aka The Nutcracker) comment and talk about ways of coping. It's always very positive.

This has led to a very active Facebook page and now to a TV show on Maori TV, which is essentially a show of the radio show.

The book focuses on 12 key people's stories - they each describe a different issue eg depression, alcoholism, bipolar disorder etc. There is running commentary from both Mike and David - and the effect is that we learn a lot about coping mechanisms along the way without being preached at.

Includes stories from Mike Chunn and denise L'Estrange Corbet.

The book also includes Mike King's own story of battling with drugs, alcohol and depression.
