"If you love the movie, you will love this game."

Purchased on Mighty Ape

Honestly, I am such a fan of this movie, I would’ve purchased this just for display purposes. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun this little game is. A quick playing time, with a dice and card dual 'to the death’, there is enough chance, a little strategy and a whole lot of giggles to make it a game of choice (and sometimes just to choose who will wash-up that evening!). It’s only a two player game, but don’t let that stop you – game play is around 10 minutes, so not long to wait for the winner to face a new challenger! Of course, quoting movie lines, and playing as my favourite characters all solidified my love of this game. But even non-princess-bride-fans (who are these people :) ) will enjoy. What’s not to love about pirates, villains and sword fights! And the quality of the game- Inconceivable…

Description

The Princess Bride: I Hate to Kill You is a quick, but crafty, dice and card game that recreates (and re-imagines) the sword duels from The Princess Bride. Play as the Man in Black, Inigo Montoya, Count Rugen, or Prince Humperdinck.

Each player starts with six dice and ten cards. Each turn, both players roll their dice, and then play a card that may modify the outcome. Some cards modify their own dice, some modify the opponent's dice, and others return dice to the active pool. The player with the highest total of Swords scores a hit and must remove a die (showing a sword) from their active pool. As the tension builds, and players lose more dice and more cards, the first player to score five hits wins the duel and the game.
