The story is a prologue to the film. The animation is good but the characters are generally uninteresting and the dialogue is bland. The presentation isn't quite up to the standard of any of project Ace's other games but it's still good.
Because the planes don't carry missles the developer had to come up with a new system to prevent the dogfighting degenerating into turn fests. Now tailing a plane builds up a meter and after hitting a button the player's plane will manuver(by itself) into a more advantagous position. The manuvers look cool and the game gives you the feeling of being a badass ace.
The wii mote controls are tedious but the game supports the gamecube and the classic controller which both work well(personally I find the gamecube controller works better than the other options).
Mission variety is decent but the campaign is over a bit too soon(maybe about 5 hours depending on the difficulty) and maps end up being repeated. Plenty of unlockables but the combat dosen't really have enough depth to have you coming back for all of them unless you're a completionist. At any rate it's better than Ace combat 6.
