Description

How powerful are words? Are they so powerful that they can change a society? Indeed, they are. We already know they did. However understanding how they can do it, can be revolutionary. In fact those who shaped our current reality are individuals who knew how to correctly make use of language. Those holding the keys of such a powerful human device have the power of moulding entire societies, for better or for worst. In this book we will analyze the four major social issues afflicting the American's society: Racism, Homophobia, Work discrepancies and Bullying. However instead of examining them in a tedious sequential manner, we will first prove how words such as the "N-Word" or "F-bombs", deeply affected America's social environment. We will see how the manipulations of these terms have been moulding their surroundings and how further reshaping could lead to almost antithetical outcomes. To explain all the phenomenons reported in this book we will make use of sociological, psychological or anthropological studies and concepts. In fact this will be an evidence based social analysis which will initially explain how language functions and why words can be extremely powerful, to then thoroughly dissect different social scenarios and try to explain how we develop into the current society. However the ultimate purpose of this book will be to advance some possible solutions for such dreadful social issues based on the evidence and the conclusions assembled during the initial analysis. Therefore for all those individuals that considered themselves civil rights advocates, this book can undoubtedly be a very useful tool. In fact it will provide the readers with the proper instruments and knowledge for being persuasive, besides assisting them in coming up with insightful interpretations of our reality.
