With (soon to be) Little River Band’s singer Glenn Shorrock on lead vocals, their early hits included definitive versions of the Velvelettes’ ‘Needle in a Haystack’, Larry Williams’ ‘Bad Boy’ and the Hollies’ ‘What’s Wrong with the Way I Live’. Ace songwriter / guitarist Terry Britten stepped forward with his own world class compositions including ‘9.50’, ‘Cathy Come Home’ and ‘The Way They Play’. Recording in London’s Abbey Road studios in 1967 the band quickly moved onto another level. Listening to these tracks some 45+ years later they remain near-perfect examples of psych-pop with stunning harmonies and exquisite production values.
