Description

Wil Jackson, his wife Carolyn and (geriatric) beagle dog, Sadie, live in their new home in Poplar Village near Knightdale, NC. Jackson is the father of 5, grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 2. He is the author of 4 previously published books: LOOKING BOTH WAYS (2012), THE ROPE OF FAITH (2007), STAFF TALK (2002) and THE PEW TALKS BACK (1991). He has also written for the Upper Room devotional magazine and contributed to other publications. A native of Ayden, NC, Wil has a BA degree from High Point College (now University) and a M.Div. degree from Duke University. He served as a pastor of United Methodist churches in eastern North Carolina for over 44 years. Jackson's sincere hope is that each reader of his finished project will find spiritual food (thoughts) which will be of assistance as we all wend our way toward heaven as our truest home. That travel is not always easy in today's confused, troubled world. Yet faith constantly being strengthened, not fear gripping us, will keep us moving on a forward path. Finally, Jackson wants to be certain that potential readers of his book understand his intention is to go beyond denominational identities or non-denominational groupings for readership. His hope is that growing/searching individuals or couples will fully appreciate the wide difference in referring to ourselves as Methodists or Baptists over against referring to ourselves as brothers and sisters in Christ. In the latter scenario, denominational preferences - or non-denominational folks -are actually wearing labels, adjectives which describe the all-important noun "Christian!" ****** Wil, shortened from Wilbur, subscribes to four simple principles for Christian growth: live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly.
