Loved this book and is a must read to those who like fantasy with that little bit of mystery. You will want to keep reading to find out what happens next and will be buying the second book before you know it.

"Underwhelming, But Brimming With Potential"

I enjoyed Throne of Glass. Not loved it; I found the world-building lacking and the characters boring, with a lot of “she is the greatest assassin in the world!!!!!” without much actual assassinating. Not to mention the unnecessary love triangle (for which I have a particular distaste). But I have read the sequels. This series grows – it grows so well with each installment – and this book, while underwhelming, does serve as a good dip of the toes into Sarah J Maas' writing. I highly recommend it to any fan of YA fantasy – and make sure to continue with Crown of Midnight!

Reviews

“This is a book which I found impossible to put down and which won me over heart and soul. Dream of Books Throne of Glass is the perfect escape to a fantasy world; an epic tale with all the romance of your favorite fairy tale, the action of The Hunger Games, and the political intrigue of Game of Thrones” The Examiner

“Celaena Sardothien may be young in years, but she has seen more than most men twice her age. She was raised to be an assassin and until her capture and imprisonment in the salt mines of Endovier, she was known as the Assassin of Adarlan and feared the world over. No one lasts long in the mines, and when she is offered the possibility of release in exchange for a mandatory, four-year conscription as a hired assassin to the king who conquered and enslaved her people, she has no choice but to comply and play a brutal game to win back the chance at freedom…Maas has created a strong and sympathetic character in Celaena, who is able to best men in a fight but is laid low by the return of her monthly cycle. The world-building is complex, as is the political intrigue. Fans of Tamora Pierce will find a lot to love here and will wait eagerly for the next installment” Gr 9 & Up School Library Journal

“Like Cinderella's love story and the action and competition of The Hunger Games … then this is the spectacular book for you! This book is going to be HUGE” Dark Readers
