Thrustmaster T-16000M Joystick reviews

I bought this same stick from Ozzy a few years ago after discovering that, for some reason, you can't buy a good joystick in New Zealand. After seeing the same cheap pieces of crap everywhere I went I finally got one from overseas.

Hand it to Mightyape to have got some in for us. I haven't played with it much, and I'm not a joystick aficionado but it does what I want it to do and it feels fine. The only thing I don't like is the area around the base of the stick lights up green when you move the stick (that green clear plastic in the picture). I have no idea what purpose this serves but it annoyed me so I covered it with duct tape.

Other than that I can recommend this device. A good joystick for a decent price.

This is a solid bit of gear it feels good, centres well, has a good number of buttons and initially felt really well built. I was wrong.

The key issue is that the z-axis (rudder) quickly became flaky AF after about 4 months. After some digging online found two fixes for this widely known issue. The first was to disassemble the hand grip and unwind the potentiometer cable. This is wrapped around the pot and the current appears to induce a weird magnetic effect on the pot. This worked for about 4 months.

The other fix is to disassemble the potentiometer itself and clean with isopropyl alcohol. I haven’t done this yet but guess that my next step.

Buyer beware. If you don’t have problems with the z-axis it’s a good joystick but I’ve had to go back to using my 20 year old Sidewinder Precision Pro.

The Thrustmaster T16000M is a fantastic joystick. Its very sturdy does not slide around at all on my desk. Incredibly smooth action and precise control. The buttons and slider do not have as much feedback as I would like and are positioned a little awkwardly but I don't think you'll find another joystick of such high quality for less. Works great in Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen.

Well built and super accurate

Price is excellent and I play Star Citizen and cannot find any faults with this joystick. Is it the best? No, but it functions well and for that price its worth getting. I heavilly play Star Citizen and am happy with this joystick that many others like myself use as well.

Great Flight Stick compatible with a lof of Sims old and new and a great entry price point for someone looking for a flight stick for the first time. Recommended by me great product.

Great product with smooth action, loads of programmable buttons and cool orange glow when stick is in use

My last Joystick was constantly inputting a command into the Y and Z axis when zero'd out, so I bought this. No such problem! Locks quite nicely into the zero position. Fantastic feel to the movements. My only complaint is that they could have incorporated more buttons onto the stick itself. Another two buttons on this thing would make it perfect.

Best joystick I have ever used

Have bought 2 of them for dual joystick setup, has nice adapter to convert (one of them) to left handed. Joysticks are excellent, function really well and are breeze to setup and install. Some people have commented on other joysticks with a large deadzone but I haven't really noticed any in these. Mostly plastic with solid metal internals, sticks well to wooden desk. Used primarily in Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen, Time will tell how long they last.

It is worth paying that little bit more from the Logitech X3D Pro (the stick this has replaced), it has a slightly larger/thicker stick, which is more comfortable for long games. Feels more premium and more precise in comparison.

precise, deceptively sturdy and pretty much works right out of the box without needing to calibrate it. Highly recommend it for all just getting into the flight genre, or for something like Elite Dangerous or similar.

Everything works exactly as it needs to, and the leftie feature is nice as well. But that green light is very annoying.

Just amazing. 10/10, would recommend. So much better than the stick on my X52 Pro.

Bit of a muck round getting it to work with BF4 but BF4 seems to not like joysticks. Great with all me other games.
