Book has pictures form the show and write ups from the characters accompanying the recipes. Great for fans of either the True Blood show or Sookie Stackhouse book series. Ive cooked (and enjoyed eating) a few items from the book and they were delicious. A great introduction to southern cooking, and with recipes of the food you see on the show (grans pecan pie, burgers from Merlotte's). There are quite a lot recipes for drinks also (from Merlotte's, Hair of the dog and Fangtasia – and yes a recipe for Tru Blood is included). A fun, tasty book that I will continue to use long after the tv series has finished. (Check out the ‘fang safe’ forks on the cover)!

This has great recipes and pictures to go with it, the layout is fantastic, but what really impressed me was the imperial to metric conversion table in the back of the book which is so handy for mathematically challenged people like myself! Can't wait to try some of these recipes! A must buy for any True Blood fan.

I've only made a couple of the recipes so far, but just the book content alone makes it great to have. Great for fans of the show, rather than the books.

Description

True Blood is the blockbuster paranormal drama, created by Alan Ball, set in Louisiana's bayou country, in the fictional town of Bon Temps. From its first season, True Blood has been a runaway success internationally; a massive 1.6 million people switched on for the show's Channel 4 premier and now, in its 4th season, averages around 200,000 viewers in the UK alone. The series has 275,000 followers on Twitter and 8.4 million fans on Facebook. The cooking of eastern Louisiana lends authenticity to many scenes in True Blood. This book celebrates the Bayou country cooking served up at Merlotte's and in the home kitchens of the show's characters, rounded out with drinks from Fangtasia and with a few maenad feasts. The book includes 82 recipes true to the cooking of the region and, whenever possible, relevant to the food and drinks seen in the episodes. All recipes included are introduced by head notes (written in the voice of the cast character to whom the recipe is attributed) and gathered into three chapters, each introduced by a chapter intro (written in the different characters' voice). The book opens with a main introduction (in Sookie's voice) and approximately 25 sidebars run throughout, featuring 'recipes' and relevant quotes (such as baby vamp Jessica's musings about not cooking).

Author Biography

Karen Sinner Shalett has written the book's body text, working in conjuncture with the show's writing staff. As a journalist and lifestyle writer entrenched in Louisiana life and a shameless fan of True Blood, Karen is uniquely qualified for this task. Marcelle Bienvenu has written and tested recipes for many books over the years. Alan Ball is the creator of True Blood. He has worked with Shalett and refined all the running text.
