"Easy to get into, harder to master, great fun either way."
5 stars"

Review by Andrew on 12th December, 2010

Although shorter than the comparable Bayonetta, Vanquish has a surprisingly high level of replayability for a game of its type. With difficulty levels ranging from the very relaxed ‘Casual Automatic’ to the punishing ‘God Hard’, Vanquish caters for players with a range of skill levels and interests. Unlike many games where increasing the difficulty just makes the game more of a grind, players are forced to use more of the game's features as the game becomes harder – it's not just about firing more bullets =) Simply one of the most enjoyable games I've played this year.

This game is brilliant best action game this year, action is overwhelmingly high sometimes, intense story line and plot voice acting is abit cheesey you will here lines from films for example “come on you maggots you wanna live forever” from Starship Troopers 1. you definatly need this in your collection

"Hard core"
5 stars"

Quite possibly the most fast pace action packed intense game I've ever played. Really gets the adrenalin pumping! Not for the light hearted… Though it's quite easy to pick up. Great addition to the collection!

Review by lou ernesto on 29th May, 2011

I quite like 3rd person shooting games, my personal favorite is infamous! although the graphics is not as amazing but who cares about the graphics!! if the game is good it is simply gonna be good!!! it is action packed, it is fast moving, and it is actually more strategic than I first thought it would be, but to sum it up, it is FULL ON..... <(^_____^)>

"Pretty Average Game"
3 stars"

Review by Stephen on 6th March, 2012

I know this game got high as reviews from most people, but I found it quite lame. It was too fast paced which the makers were obviously trying to do, but you missed out on how to play and all the fun. Also if you're after a good story line its not the game for you. But it is easy so possibly good for children, even though its R13.

“…players looking for a highly entertaining shooter should look no further. Vanquish will keep you on the edge of your multi-thruster booster seat.” 8.5/10 – IGN

The story takes place on a vast space station in a near future world where nations war over the planet’s remaining energy resources. Against this backdrop, players take the role of Sam Gideon, a government agent kitted out with a futuristic battle suit. A versatile fighter with a huge arsenal of weaponry at his disposal, Sam also has an array of martial arts skills that he can use to take down his robot enemies.

  • Fast, fluid and frenetic – This is gaming at its most explosive and exciting, as you storm into battle.
  • Experience a game character like no other – Sam is the ultimate weapon, donning a futuristic battle suit of destructive firepower and superhuman speed and agility.
  • Wage war in space – Fight your way through the enormous, open environments of the space station. The most advanced, futuristic city in the skies becomes home to the action.
  • Genre breaker – Taking the shooter genre to the next level by adding unique offensive and defensive moves, and kinetic melee combat.
  • Challenge and competition – VANQUISH will rate players on a variety of statistics, rewarding them for quick reflexes and strategic thinking, ensuring they will want to play the levels again and again.

Review by IGN
"…Vanquish is a stylish, spectacular looking game with great gunplay and some stunning set pieces. Although the game's story and character development pale in comparison to the action, I had a great time with Vanquish from the in-game tutorial all the way to the ending credits. Even though Mikami's latest creation is difficult at times, players looking for a highly entertaining shooter should look no further. Vanquish will keep you on the edge of your multi-thruster booster seat.

7.0 Presentation
Vanquish has an impressive level of polish. The story and character development, however, aren't engaging.
9.0 Graphics
Vanquish is a chaotic, detailed spectacle of bullets and booster rockets. Organic sections are less impressive than the inorganic settings, but overall this game looks awesome.
8.5 Sound
The music in Vanquish is a fitting electronic affair. There are a surprising number of language tracks here, including Japanese, French and Italian, along with solid English performances.
8.5 Gameplay
Enjoyable gunplay mixed with weapon power-ups, arcade-style scoring and an insanely fast boosting mechanic to traverse levels in a flash. Marvelous action set pieces.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
The campaign will only take six to seven hours to complete. Fortunately there are challenge stages to fight waves of enemies in a focused battle scenario, but Vanquish could have lasted a bit longer.
