Without a hint of preachiness, and with plenty of sass, the book delivers veganized versions of traditional cookies such as New York City's black and white cookies, Pepperidge Farm Milanos (called minonos) and lemon bars, about which the authors explain, “For too long we vegans have had our faces pressed against the glass of the dessert case and longing for the sweet tartness of those shimmering lemon bars. Isa Chandra Moskowitz is America's most popular vegan chef. She and Terry Hope Romero, both Brooklyn natives, are the authors of Veganomicon and Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. Isa has also authored Vegan the soon-to-be released Vegan Brunch. Their books have won a 2006 PETA Proggy Award and a 2006 VegNews' Veggie Award, and in 2007, Isa was voted Personality of the Year by VegNews magazine. Since 2003, Isa and Terry Hope Romero have hosted the public access/ pod cast vegan cooking show The Post Punk Kitchen. They can be found online at www.theppk.com and linked to on countless blogs.
