Description

Set in a New England seaside village on the brink of the American Revolution, Walker's Cove is a chronicle of the Walker family history in colonial America . . . a very personal narration derived from family papers and events. Through his personal narrative, Jim Walker highlights his Colonial American life as a tavern keeper, who meets new neighbor Suzannah Ellingwood; and these two young people brought together by chance, share their experiences prior to and through the turbulence of the American Revolution, portraying events and sagas that leave no emotion untouched. Readers will feel welcomed into his extended family, as Jim helps them experience and endure colonial life through times that were endearing, intimate, adventuresome, folksy, frightening and so profoundly personal, that one can feel a "you are there" kinship with him, Suzannah and the Walker's Cove townsfolk. This remarkable and illustrated novel is an historical feast of real events that took place. The novel's core is based upon surviving family letters, diaries paintings and supplemented by national and state archival records.
