"Ultimate starter for latest edition of 40k"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Possibly the best starter for 40k ever, includes just under 1000 points of both Primaris Space Marines and Death Guard as well as hardcover rulebook. Ever better value from Mighty Ape, why pay more elsewhere.

"8th Edition Warhammer 40K"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Games Workshop have completely overhauled their game and designed something much closer to what the fan base have been asking for for years. Newly released editions were often cross compatible with previous edition books, how ever this is a complete new slate and makes all non 8th edition books redundant. Every miniature has a new rules and the rules for the miniatures have been consolidated into 5 books called Index: Volumes, you will need at least 1 of the Index books if you want to further develop one of the Army in the box into a larger force. If you were ever thinking of jumping into 40k now would be the time as the whole system will be quite new to veterans and new players alike. The box contains a lot of value as the models sold separately plus the cost of the hard back book would exceed the box set.

"Awesome box"

Very happy with box, went halves with a friend and we both walked away with a good size starter army. Recommend for those getting back into warhammer!

"A Good (Flexible) Starter Set for 8th Edition"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Having been absent since 4th edition, this 8th edition set is a good starter kit for the new player or returning player alike. Rules have been streamlined so even a previous non-player can play after a 10min~ tutorial and general model quality is excellent – no jagged edges and so forth.

Particularly noteworthy is the (understated) fact that the Primarus Marines can be repainted into existing chapter colours (not just Ultramarines) and added to your existing space marines army under the new ruleset – very good if you don't want to play as Smurfs all the time!

Modelwise the Marines are harder to glue (3–4 join points) vs Chaos (2 or so join points for most non chaos-marine models), although paintwise Marines are the easier of the two to paint.

"Great new set"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

Definitely a welcome new direction from GW. Big thanks to M.A. For getting on the short supply so quickly that I still had the boxed set within the first week even though they had sold out. Nice work.
