Wonderful graphics bringing an old favourite to life. I bought the blu ray because I knew it would be enhanced viewing. I have watched the new Watership down and it was an entirely different story than the original. One thing I wasn't happy about was it didn't have english subtitles for the hearing impaired. Usually I look on the back of a disc to see if it has them and most do these days but this doesn't and sadly I am no good at lip reading rabbit cartoons. But brilliant to watch and hoping it has the original “Bright eyes”

Description

Watership Down

The timeless animation classic based on the best-selling novel by Richard Adams. Nestled among the peaceful meadows of country England lives an idyllic community of rabbits. When warned that their warren will be destroyed, a small group escapes into the unknown countryside in search of a new home.

Led by the visionary Fiver, the courageous Bigwig, the clever Blackberry, and the honorable Hazel, the rabbits face daunting challenges as they struggle to pursue their dream, battling the vicious General Woundwort, the cruel leader of another warren, but also making an unlikely friend – a batty seagull named Kehaar.

Critic Reviews:

  • " A beautifully realized animation, Watership Down ultimately works because it doesn't dilute the violence and drama of Adams' book with a rose-tinted lens. " – Richard Luck
  • " Cuts so deep on so many ethereal levels that you can flip to nearly any page in the history book and see a parallel. " – Phil Villarreal
  • " A rather faithful adaptation of [Richard] Adams' book, as well as a milestone work of independent animation. " – Austin Trunick
