When you’re dealing with the most famous fighter of them all things have to be just right. The West Wings Wingleader Supermarine Spitfire MK1 captures the ‘lines’ of the early Spitfires to a tee!
This printed kit requires careful cutting out and reasonable skill to assemble accurately but the end result is more than worth it. Even the wing root fairings are simulated and that characteristic ‘elliptical’ wing just flows into the fuselage. The kit contains a superb scale canopy, undercarriage and rubber motor, so all you ned to complete her is glue and covering dope. Even the tissue is in the box!
With that accurate external shape she just cries out to be carefully painted in an authentic scheme. With Spitfires, there’s hundreds to choose from and yours could be truly unique!
Although only 470mm’s in span, the Wingleader Spitfire still gives you a great flight each time and you’ll want to keep her constantly in the air.

West Wings are probably the largest manufacturer of small model kits in the UK, manufacturing all of the West Wings kits in their factory in West Cornwall. Designs draw on the extensive experience staff have gained from ‘hands-on’ modelling over many years. Combine this with full CAD drawings and their CNC cutting machines and you can appreciate how accurate the kits are. The only items in the kits that are not made in the UK are propellers from Japan and flight quality rubber specially imported from the USA. Balsa wood, being a tropical tree, does not grow in Europe; therefore it is sourced from managed and sustained forests in Ecuador and Papua New Guinea.
