It just keeps going from strength to strength and follow the Wests through another period of New Zealand history and show a grown up Wolf coming into his own and trying to make a name for himself while getting on his father's nerves and mother's as-well as they clash backwards and forwards. Watch as significant milestones are marked in New Zealand's history and as the Wests face what maybe their biggest challenge yet as Wolf grows into his very own man.
Not long started with this, love it cant wait to start season 3
Welcome to Chapter 2 in the story of how the Wests evolved into the family we know and still love…
We left the Wests at the end of series one in 1979. Rita had been arrested for the shooting of a gang member, a Horseman, at the Galleria. Westside 2 begins as a mirror image of the first series, with a West coming out after a stint in prison – this time it’s Rita. She’s a convicted criminal now, out to reclaim the life she had and carve out her own successful crime career.
But things have moved on in her absence, her son, Wolf, has gotten older and
become a man with a plan for his own life.
Series one of Westside jumped through time at a frenetic rate of knots. This
time around things slow down to focus on the week-to-week existence of West
Auckland’s #1 crime family and explore an intense period of New
Zealand’s social history.
Ted, Rita and their crew are now entering a time in which their political differences are more pertinent than ever – as the 1981 Springbok tour divides living rooms all over New Zealand, the ideological clash between left and right ends up on the streets and behind barbed wire.
From the pen of James Griffin, Westside 2 explores the fates and fortunes of
our nation and in the process bestows a whole new generation with access to
1981 New Zealand.
Westside is a prequel to Outrageous Fortune. Over six seasons between 2005 and
2010, Outrageous Fortune established itself as New Zealand's most successful
television drama series. A consistent ratings winner, the show achieved cult
status and critical acclaim at home and abroad and to date has won more than
50 awards.
