Matt Ottley was born in the highlands of New Guinea in 1962. In 1975 his family moved to Sydney where he completed his education and excelled in painting and drawing. Since 1981 Matt has spent lengthy periods of time working as a jackaroo and stockman in the Australian outback. He has studied at the Julian Ashton School of Art, and at the Sydney School of Guitar, giving regular classical guitar recitals. He has also lived overseas, where he worked as an equestrian artist.
