A component of eHealth, mHealth covers a broad, diverse array of digital technology, from wireless pacemakers to Fitbit devices, intended to improve communication and information sharing between patients and health care practitioners. This book summarizes and analyzes some of the legal issues and considerations that mHealth developers, users, and their attorneys may need to evaluate--both when developing and commercializing digital products and new applications, as well as after their products have been introduced into the marketplace. This book also addresses considerations for interacting with or partnering with regulators responsible for market approvals, with healthcare providers that would purchase and/or use the technologies, with insurance companies that would extend reimbursement, and with other players.
