Based on Janette Oke's best-selling historical romance series, and directed
by Michael Landon, Jr., When Calls The Heart tells the story of Elizabeth
Thatcher (Poppy Drayton), a cultured young school teacher who leaves her
comfortable city life in the East to accept a teaching position on the Western
frontier. Despite the many hardships of frontier life, Elizabeth is determined
to prove to her family that she is brave enough to live on her own.
When Elizabeth finds the diary of her late Aunt (Maggie Grace), she discovers
that she too was a pioneering woman, a teacher in the Canadian West who
struggled with prairie life and fell in love with Wynn (Stephen Amell), a
handsome Royal Canadian Mountie.
Inspired by her Aunt's hopeful words and the example of her unfaltering
determination, Elizabeth embarks on her own adventure of purpose, courage,
and love.
