Description

Four years in the Navy and four years of college do not prepare a person for an insurance career. However, in the early sixties, Robert Bongardt was newly married and desperate to find a job. He and his wife were expecting their first child. A return to an advertising position, which he preferred, was not available. An opportunity to become an insurance underwriter beckoned. What followed was a variety of underwriting positions with several insurance companies over the next thirty-five years. He traveled with his wife and children from coast to coast. They lived in five different states. The author's mobility was almost as important as doing a good job in commercial insurance. Hundreds of co-workers and insurance agents helped to hold his success in an occupation which required a thorough understanding of insurance hazards for an endless variety of commercial accounts. Bongardt invites his readers to journey with him and his family as he recalls many domestic and business challenges during the career and subsequent retirement. This story-Where is Home is aptly named.
