"Interesting read"
4 stars"

The plot of this book is very intriguing; very original story that kept me reading to see what would happen next. Great book for fans of Chinese mythology, as the storyline mixes everyday life with Chinese gods. Though one reason I found myself putting the book down is that the writing isn't very polished. Some parts of the book feel very awkward to read and the characters aren't very developed; especially Emma, whom we learn very little about despite being the protagonist. I would still recommend this book as a good read and will continue to read the series. I hope to see the author develop her writing in the next two books.

She understands that Simone may be a target for kidnappers but she does not expect to be drawn into a world of martial arts, magic and extreme danger, where both gods and demons can exist in the mortal domain.

When John and his American bodyguard, Leo, teach Emma their particular style of martial arts, they begin to realise that Emma herself is more than she seems ...
