Description

All Michael ever wanted was to fit in at school. But now the soccer team captain has been calling him names, and he just wants to run away and cry. "Hurry up, fatso," Kevin taunts Michael in gym class. "He can't climb anything!" But when adults start to ask what's wrong, Michael doesn't want to answer. He's too embarrassed about being chubby. Plus, what if he gets Kevin in trouble, and none of the other kids like him anymore? It's only when a helpful teacher spots Michael crying on the back steps that the grown-ups in his life come up with a plan-one that will allow him to stand up to his bully once and for all. And with the advice of his gym teacher, Mr. Arnold, he's able to start a healthy eating and exercise routine so he can feel better than ever! Why Am I So Fat, Mommy? Is an inspirational read for parents and children alike-tackling the real-life problems of childhood weight issues and classroom bullying. Featuring realistic food and workout advice, Michael's story encourages healthy new habits, while encouraging victims of bullying to stand up and ask for help.
