Anson Major Anson's last day's work was twelve hours on horseback in front of Lucknow, on 6th March, 1858, which, in his own words, strained him all over, and made him feel something like a wreck. Although he was able soon after to take rest, he never really recovered from the illness brought on by the wear and tear of the campaign. He died at Dehra Doon.
