Description

Let Your Mind Wander In the London of the Swinging ‘60s a reclusive professor (Jack MacGowran – The Fearless Vampire Killers, Cul-de-Sac) becomes infatuated with a beautiful model Penny Lane ( Jane Birkin – Blow Up ), the girlfriend of a Svengali like fashion photographer (Iain Quarrier). The professor embarks on a noble quest to become her champion. To rescue Penny he enters the magical realm of the Wonderwall, and returns to his laboratory a transformed man. The kaleidoscope of images and George Harrison’s musical soundtrack catapult the audience into a lost world of innocence, where love and laughter reign supreme. Wonderwall was directed by Joe Massot (The Song Remains the Same), from a story by Gerard Brach (Repulsion, Cul-de-Sac) a surreal psychedelic ‘head’ movie that has enjoyed a renaissance at the hands of numerous film critics since it’s re-release in 2000. "I had various choices, the Bee Gees were interested in doing something and came to Twickenham Studios to see me. It seemed the movie had created a vibe as Graham Nash also wanted to join in. George told me that he had been working on "Magical Mystery Tour" helping out, but that was Paul's project...that he would like to do something solo. So I told him he would have a free hand to do anything he liked musically. That was what interested him in the picture" Director – Joe Massot “I had a regular wind-up stopwatch and I watched the film to "spot-in" the music with the watch. I wrote the timings down in my book then I'd go to Abbey Road, make up a piece, record it and when we'd synch it up at Twickenham it always worked. It was always right”. – George Harrison "I decided to do it as a mini-anthology of Indian music because I wanted to help turn the public on to Indian music".– George Harrison
