Description

Excerpt from Wool Situation: May, 1964 Domestic wool prices were slower than those of foreign wools to move up in the rising wool market prevailing in the past year. During late April and early May 1964, domestic wool prices remained relatively firm, although world' wool prices declined moderately. This has narrowed the price differential between foreign and domestic wools. Prices for domestic graded territory and fleece shorn wool at Boston increased in December 1963 after remaining relatively stable during 1963. They continued to increase in early 1964. The fine grades increased through March before declining moderately, while prices of the medium and coarser wools were relatively stable in January and February before ih creasing in March and April. (see Statistical Summary, Part l-prices.) However, prices of most domestic wools were down slightly in mid - May from a month earlier.
