This memoir recounts the author's experience as a ""blue"" baby, and his recovery to normal life through surgery. Dennis McEldowney was not expected to live past the age of eight, fortunately the doctors were wrong and when he was 24 they discovered that he had been a ""blue baby"". Dennis describes the joys and terrors of discovering the outside world and the people in it.

Author Biography

Dennis McEldowney, writer and publisher, entered into publishing at Auckland University Press, where he was Managing Editor from 1972 until his retirement. Recipient of an honorary doctorate from the University of Auckland, he has written many reviews and commentaries for various periodicals, in addition to a number of autobiographical works.
