Blejk Bejliev roman o ljubavi, prijateljstvu i socijalnoj pravdi Blejka Bejlia je zapatisticki pokret zainteresovao 1994. godine kad su izvestaji o zapatistickoj revoluciji preplavili medunarodnu stampu. Blejk je zapoceo iscrpno proucavanje dogadaja u Ciapasu koje ga je odvelo na putovanje preko Meksika u San Kristobal de Las Kazas, gde se odigrao prevrat Maja Indijanaca. Ova prica o avanturi i pozrtvovanju narodne revolucije nagnala je Blejka da napise roman zasnovan na borbi u Meksiku. Roman Zapatista je verno zasnovan na dogadajima zapatistickog ustanka iz 1994. godine. Pisan je da bude pristupacan i onima zeljnim citanja avanturisticke price, kao i onima zainteresovanim za dublju dramu narodne revolucije. Glavni protagonist romana, Piter, gradanin Teksasa, dolazi na odmor sa prijateljima u Siera Madre da bi pisao, pio i tragao za avanturama. On dozivljava avanture u vecoj meri nego sto je ocekivao kada ga splet okolnosti odvoji od prijatelja i uvuce u borbu na zivot i smrt radi revolucionarnog cilja. Ove avanture i ljubav Indijanke, Lksil, zauvek menjaju Piterov zivot. Roman Zapatista porucuje nam da su ljubav, prijateljstvo i borba za socijalnu pravdu medusobno nerazdvojivi. Govori o dogadajima koji se iznenada pojave u nasim zivotima i koji nas, ako prepoznamo njihovu revolucionarnost, zauvek menjaju i odvode daleko od dotadasnjeg nacina zivota. Glavni junak romana solidarise se sa siromasnima i potcinjenima, koji su odlucili da se suprostave ugnjetavanju mocnika. Smisao svog zivota pronalazi u zajednickoj borbi s njima a sav dotadasnji lagodni, konzumentski zivot, o kojem mnogi ljudi sanjaju, pokazuje se kao nevazan. Ovo je prica o odlasku u zabiti deo sveta, pridruzivanju revolucionarima, otkrivanju misticnih, neobjasnjivih sila koje se kriju iza pojavnog sveta, otkrivanju unutrasnjih snaga koje nikad nismo upotrebljavali. Ovo je prica o zapatistima.
