Welcome to July's Wargame of the Month, and this time it's extra special as
there's two of them! That's right, we're celebrating the release of
Warmachine & Hordes Mk.III.
What is Warmachine & Hordes?
Warmachine
& Hordes are tabletop skirmish miniatures games set in the
steam-powered fantasy world of the Iron Kingdoms, produced by
Privateer Press.

Completing an army project is always very rewarding, especially if it's in
time for an event or tournament. So I was very happy to cross off this
year's first big project off the list by having my 150th Panzer Brigade for
Bolt Action ready in time for Nicon this past weekend.
So let's take a look at the finished models…

The typical battlefields of Dropzone Commander are semi-ruined urban areas,
with intact buildings housing objectives playing a central role in the games
rules. This, combined with Dropzone Commander's 10mm scale means that players
may find that the scenery they use for other systems doesn't quite work.
But the good news is that there are plenty of great options available to
construct an awesome DZC battlefield without having to spend heaps.
Dropzone Commander Card Terrain
One of the awesome things which Hawk Wargames did with Dropzone Commander is
release it with a range of pre-cut, pre-folded colour card tiles and buildings
with which to set up your battlefield. If you've purchased the Two
Player Starter Set then you will already have 10 of these buildings along
with 1 set of urban street posters to get you started.

As I'm just getting into Dropzone Commander myself I reached out to a few of
the local players up here in Auckland to get an escalation campaign started to
help introduce more newbies like myself to the game.
So let's take a look at how to get involved…
What is an Escalation League or Campaign?
Escalation leagues or campaigns are a time honoured tradition in war gaming,
with roots in the Tale of 4 Gamers series from White Dwarfs back in
the day. Basically you get a group of players together who are interested in
starting new armies or gaming systems and begin by collecting a starter box or
small warband and start playing games.

Now it's time to take a closer look at the forces of Dropzone Commander,
including their background and a quick overview of how they play and look on the
table top. We've also included links to some fantastic blogs which go into even
more detail.
So lets take a look at who you can play…

Welcome to another Flames
of War Friday Pacific Editon.
Over the past few weeks I've begun working on updating my Japanese infantry
company in preparation for the new Banzai book and preparing for a brand new
play style; fortified lists!
So let's take a look at how my troops are digging in for some defensive
action…

In my previous blog I was talking about recruiting
the troops which make up the majority of my force.
However the centrepiece of the force is the Panther Eratz M10. Warlord Games
produce one of these in resin which is a good starting point. But I wanted
something a bit more special, unique and accurate, so I've decided to scratch
build my own using the Rubicon Models Panther
Ausf G as the base.
Time to get scratchbuilding
Rubicon specialize in 1:56th scale kits which are designed for gaming, to be
robust & easy to build, yet aim to be more detailed and accurate than other
manufacturers working in this scale- namely Warlord/Italeri.
