Description

The album that garnered Midnight Oil international attention, this 1983 outing also heralded a significant departure for the Australian act, who had previously excelled at fierce, no-frills rock. Helmed by renowned British producer Nick Launay, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 finds the band working with quirky-but-catchy pop-savvy melodies, and focusing its political-minded fury into edgy, post-punk-inspired tunes (see the energetic singles "Read About It" and "Power and the Passion") that perfectly complemented frontman Peter Garrett's imposing performance style. The beginning of an impressive decade-long streak that included the hit records DIESEL AND DUST and BLUE SKY MINING, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 is undisputedly one of Midnight Oil's finest albums, and a landmark in the history of Australian rock.
