These books have lots of details about each of the vehicles, and they rhyme too. The pictures have plenty for a toddler to look at and talk about, although the animal characters are sometimes a bit ambiguous. They remind me a little of the Richard Scarry books. In the box are: Amazing Airplanes, Awesome Ambulances, Busy Boats, Cool Cars, Dazzling Diggers, Flashing Fire Engines, High-flying Helicopters, Marvellous Motorcycles, Patrolling Police Cars, Super Submarines, Terrific Trains, Tough Trucks, Tremendous Tractors, Roaring Rockets. Each book has some ‘technical’ info, as well as how things might relate to the child too. For example, in Amazing Airplanes: “The flight deck's where the captain and copolit to their jobs. They both know how to fly the plane with all its dials and knobs. They radio Control Tower to check the runway's clear. They can't take off unless it is, with other planes so near.” and a few pages later “Soon the plane is in the air, so now you're on your flight. The cabin crew look after you and make sure you're all right. They bring you drinks and magazines and trays of food to eat. And sometimes there's a movie you can watch while in your seat.” I would say the books are suitable for any kid 2+ who is interested in things that go. The fire truck box is very flimsy, not really suitable for actually storing the books in (unless out of reach), but it would make a great toy to play with if you don't mind it getting bashed around. The books themselves are very small (14cm square), so perfect for little hands to hold and read (the text is big, so they are also suitable for young-readers). But if you want larger books, buy the individual paperbacks (those are about 21cm square). If you're looking for a special gift, this is fantastic and will get years of enjoyment.
