My siblings loved ‘Badjelly the Witch’ in the 70s; my kids loved her in the 1990s and now the next generation loves her, too. Quirky, wacky, fun and definitely UNscary – this is a classic fairytale with a unique Spike Milligan twist. Sometimes it's like a steam of consciousness – one gets the sense that he made it up while telling it as a bedtime story to his own children. The print (it's handwritten in Milligan's own writing) can be challenging for early readers/grandpaÂrents without the right specs (!) but it's an enduring classic. Read all about the adventures of Tim and Rose, their cow Luce, Fluffybum the cat, Dinglemouse, Dulboot the giant and Jim the eagle – as well as Badjelly the Witch herself.
