Description

THE ONE WHO BLESSES OTHERS IS ABUNDANTLY BLESSED; THOSE WHO HELP OTHERS ARE HELPED. --Proverbs 11:25-31 This book is a true story recounted by the author to help children realize--even at a young age--that they can make a difference in the lives of others. Through this heartwarming story, children learn how the friendship between two neighborhood boys blossomed into a blessing for an entire community. If you would like your children or grandchildren to look for ways to help others even as they seek God's guidance in their lives, this book is for you. "This story is dear to my heart and the heart of my son--who is one of the little boys in this story. He is now thirty and is still giving back to the program." --Lisa O'Harra

Author Biography:

"Ms. Dee" Darla Shirley and Lisa O'Harra have been friends in Christ for over twenty years. Darla has spent countless hours working on restoring the lives of families and children in South Dallas and starting Youth World in 1999. Her love for the Lord is apparent in everything she does. Darla and her husband, Steve, live in Arlington, Texas. Their son, Mac, is portrayed in this story, and they also have a daughter, Stevie, one granddaughter, a son-in-law, and a daughter-in-law. The entire family helps out from time to time at the Youth World center. Illustrator: Becky Hansen, a long-time friend of Lisa's, graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She lives in Buffalo Gap, Texas. She is a gifted artist who has painted many murals in the Abilene area. She has two daughters, a son-in-law, a grand-daughter, and a grandson. She has spent many hours helping at Youth World and is loved by many. "Ms. Lollie" Lisa Henderson O'Harra graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. She is a licensed interior designer and has worked with seminaries, corporate offices, banks, many beautiful homes, and even a yacht. Lisa lives in Fort Worth, Texas, with her husband and two horses. They have three children (including Greggory, portrayed in the book-now thirty years old) and twin grandsons. She is active in her church and is very involved in a community faith-based children's organization that reaches out to at-risk children. God has blessed her with the gift of creativity, and she is honored to use her talents to glorify the Lord.
