Description

This is a sweet-as-a-cookie rhyming story-fun to read aloud-with charming illustrations about a dream that comes true! This fast-paced picture book features an inclusive message from President Abraham Lincoln about the importance of immigrants to America. A recipe for delicious hamantashen is included. When Jewish immigrant Bunny Romero learns that her second-grade class will be visiting the White House the day before Thanksgiving, she jumps for joy! Now she is sure that her dream will come true: to eat her favorite cookies-her Mexican nana's hamantashen-right there in the White House kitchen. Then she'll really feel at home in America! But what happens when Bunny discovers that the kitchen is not part of the tour? Find out in this delightful rhyming tale, lightly sprinkled with Spanish, Yiddish, and Hebrew, about a day that Bunny and everyone else at the White House, including the first female president and one fun-loving pet turkey, will never forget!

Author Biography:

Margie Blumberg launched MB Publishing in 2003. Her first title was Avram's Gift ("A Notable Book for Younger Readers" -The Sydney Taylor Book Awards). Her company's other titles include A Gefilte Fishy Tale, The Scoop on Good Grammar, Tutti's Promise, and Celtic Run: A Jake McGreevy Novel (Book 1 of 3). A graduate of American University and the University of Baltimore School of Law, Margie resides in Bethesda, Maryland, where she enjoys baking, biking, books, and movies. Her favorite children's books include Charlotte's Web, No Roses for Harry, and Put Me in the Zoo. Renée Andriani grew up in Connecticut and studied Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. She is the illustrator of five additional picture books for MB Publishing: A Gefilte Fishy Tale, Paris Hop!, Rome Romp!, No Naptime for Janie! A Hanukkah Tale, and A Home for Hope! Renée's work also appears in magazines and on Hallmark's Shoebox greeting cards. An avid hiker and cookie baker, she draws inspiration from doodling in her sketchbook, being outdoors, and hanging out with funny people.
