"A good game that could have been epic !"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

After the nightmare that is Blizzard's version of Steam, waiting several hours and dozens of connection attempts, we eventually got the game validated and were able to play it. This was short lived as the server failed during the night and was not up again for sometime.
There's a lesson here,: Do not buy Blizzard games to use on the release day. Once running the game went fine with no noticeable glitches except the occasional server outage. Graphics were nice with mood lighting and depth of field effects not previously used creating an almost 3D look. The sound tract was good using some of the earlier sounds that made the original game special.
In general the game followed a similar line to the Diablo 2 story but with the welcome return of characters from the original diablo.
If you like full on bashing action then this is a great game and it will keep you going for hours. The only sour note has to be the lack of the unique atmosphere that made the original Diablo so enveloping. It starts of good but I feel the designers got a bit carried away with the special effects with most of the characters emitting a multitude of bright glowing colours making the combat scenes looking like one almighty mess. Generally a good game but not what I hoped for.

As a hardcore diablo 1&2 player, I have little fault to find with the 3rd installment.

Yes thier is a constant online connection required, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it. The real money AH isn't in the game yet as of 28/05/2012, and they have given no date for it.

Its super easy to join other peoples games now, the loot is per player rather then a free for all that it was in diablo 2.

Thier is a shared stash between all your toons. Tho it is limited to 10 toons per account/region.

4 difficultly levels now as well, with the last one being pretty insane.

Account wide achievements as well if you are like me and enjoy the little challenges they give.

It gets a 5 out of 5 from me, because I can look past the required internet connection, and the day 1 connection errors.

"This game allowed me to punch a demon's skeleton out of his body"

There's a lot of complaints here and there about this game, but that's what comes from making a game that has 12M subscribers, and then giving them access to something different from what they last saw.

The always-on requirement is a bit of a pain, but the impact is getting less and less as time goes on.

It's a good romp, and keeps you coming back for more and more.

The CE gives you a few neat things, for one it gives you Diablo 2 + the Lord of Destruction expansion pack, which currently goes for $30 on Mighty Ape. It also gives you a nice soundtrack, an art book and some properly handy things in game (like limitless dyes, which come in handy when you're facing down an otherwise-badass clown suit).

"Blizzard became Bli$$ard"

I could choose Diablo 2 any day of the week over Diablo 3.

Torchlight is a way better choice than this if you looking for a fun dungeon-crawler.

Granted diablo 3 nailed is art style, although this is not enought to make it a legend like it's predecessor is.

From the old five clases the only one that really deserves the return is the Barbarian which is no more than a copy+paste and for this is fun. Yet the game has no end game sexyness.

Probably the worst of it is battlenet “always connected” anti-piracy policy, which doesn't work by the way. What it does work though is the blocking account system they got, that blocks any account just to push you buy their Authenticator thingy.

The CE boxset looks amazing, sadly it envelopes a lousy attemp of sequel for a great game.

This is Bli$$ spiting in his fanbase face regardless of what die-hard fans could say.

In the bright side Mighty Ape as always giving a great service. ^^

nice graphics, a good step up from D2. I like how you can connect with your RealID friends to play, but don't like how you can't play if Battle.net is down. Overall a great bit of fun following the story

"Good game annoying always online."

Diablo 3 is a really good game, that is enjoyable for all. It is let down however by the need to always be online, so those who want to play by themselves are always forced to be connected to the battle-net servers.

A fantastic 3rd installment. Even if you've never played Diablo. As a fan and follower of the series it was definately worth the collectors edition.

"Great Product"

This collectors edition is amazing one of the best I have gotten for a while. I didn't feel like they just threw in cheap stuff to pad it in an attempt to justify the cost. The game is extreamly enjoyable if a little easy on the first play through. However, it was well worth the wait!

"My Pre-Order Experience (Diablo 3 CE) With Mighty Ape."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I had been waiting for the launch of Diablo 3, since they announced the it in 2008. I anticipated a Diablo 3 even before then, being a Diablo 1 & 2 die hard fan. I even took annual leave for the rest of the week that commenced after the delivery date. Along the course of my pre-order I wanted to change the payment method and Mighty Ape made it so easy for me to do so, without losing my pre-order for the already sold out collector's edition. They stuck to their word, I received the game on the release date, I am very impressed with their service. Mighty Ape has made a loyal customer for life! Thanks Mighty Ape.

"Magnificent and most definitely worth the wait"

The Collectors edition is phenomenal, loving the Skull with USB, and the game itself is much better than I had initially anticipated what with all the new features its even better than Diablo 2, however I'm keen for expansions to bring back some of the old characters from D2 like the Necromancer and Paladin.

"Great game, mixed feelings"

Blizzard. For some people it's enough. I expected this game for a long time. This game gave me mixed feelings. On the one hand it's beautiful, interesting, kill'em all fast game. On the other I've expected more. In my opinion, TitanQuest has some features which are better than D3. But, we shouldn't forget that it's Blizzard. It means that if fans don't like the game as is, they will produce patches and it will change the game in the way so you'll love it. PS Collectors edition is cool. Extra/bonus stuff will make you unique in Blizzard worlds. It worth it :)

"Awesome game!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Game is great, graphics is great, story is great, combat system is great…Yes I know blizzard has changed the systems a lot, I know you have to connect to internet to play this game but I think these are good changes. The thing I like about this game is that everyone can find the right balance of this game, you want to play for fun- Normal is for you. You want challenge- Then go infernal. As for the collector's edition, it has nice stuffs but I am not sure if it worth the extra hundred dollars…The soultone usb is pretty nice, the in game wings looks bad ass too (but you have to activate every time you log in and it has to be reactivated after death), but apart from that there isn't much good stuff left for the collector's edition. As a result I recommend to buy the standard edition, you won't miss much and you can still enjoy the game.

Just the Perfect game, Blizzard really showed what games are supposed to be about by trading a major graphic's game for the best engine they could make. Well done Blizzard 10/10

This game is really, really good. I just thought I'd put that out there before we get onto the specifics.

It's a game designed for Diablo players, plain and simple. It feels a lot like slipping back into a comfortable pair of old jeans – the sounds are familiar, the way loot explodes from chests is familiar, and the click-to-orbital-strike action is there.

The characters have been refreshed to make them a bit more right for the times – the Barbarian makes a welcome return, but his mechanics are reworked. The rest of the group are new, with options for two melee (Barbarian, Monk) and three ranged (Wizard, Demon Hunter, Witch Doctor – sort of a pet class too).

The new Diablo throws off the shackles of stat point allocation in favour of item-based specialisations. Your equipment is your stats and benefits, more or less, and this is a good thing – the change means less agonising about how many Int points you need, and more about how you want to play (for example, you can totally be a viable melee Wizard). It's genius.

The downsides of the game should be noted however:

  1. As a Mac gamer, this box is partially useful. The copies of Diablo 2 included on the memory stick can't be used on Lion (as there is no more Rosetta Stone in OS X). It's not a huge deal because, let's be honest, you're not going to play it once you've got D3 installed.
  2. The client here is the “Southeast Asia” client. As such, the language within the game is “Southeast Asia” (not “English”). This creates a problem (which I've confirmed via support ticket with Blizzard) where “Breaking News” is not correctly displayed within the game client. You can fix this by downloading a retail copy from your account @ Blizzard (either EU or US English works fine). That's about 8GB of download you'll need to make though o.O
  3. The game service is, at time of writing, highly erratic. It's up and down like a dog's hind leg, and often down at times where it's convenient for US players but not NZ or AU players. The Auction House is a bit buggy as well. I think that this will resolve itself, as it's mostly new product blues, but you need to be aware of it.
  4. The always-on nature of the connection means there are lag and latency spikes from NZ. In a practical sense, this means that Hell and Inferno difficulties may be impossible for some players and highly challenging for others – 250ms of latency on a health potion is quite different to 50ms of latency experienced within the US. There are no plans for local servers.

All in all, I'm thoroughly enjoying it, but I wish it didn't have a Blizzard service wrapper around it.
