MICHAEL E. SCHATMAN, PH.D., is a Consulting Clinical Psychologist, Redmond, Washington. Acknowledged for his expertise in the evaluation, legal consultation and development of multidisciplinary pain management clinics, Dr. Schatman has published a variety of articles and textbook chapters related to ethical issues in the care of chronic pain patients. A member of the American Psychological Association, the American Pain Society, and the American Society of Pain Educators, and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management, Dr. Schatman serves on the editorial advisory board of the journal Practical Pain Management. He is currently working on a textbook focused on the development and management of multidisciplinary chronic pain management clinics in an effort to save these clinically cost-effective and cost-efficient treatment facilities from extinction.
