In the twenty years, commonly referred to as the Napoleonic period, it was not the flamboyant uniforms of the French cavalry that made the difference on the battlefields of Europe. It was, without doubt, the infantry that interpreted the joys of revolutionary values (the spirit of the volunteers, electoral democracy in ranks, the joy of victory) and also the pains that followed (compulsory conscription, forced marches, diseases and disabilities, and finally, the defeat of Waterloo). Without claiming to be an exhaustive work, the book synthesizes all the main passages concerning the French infantry units from 1792 to 1815 and celebrates some curiosities, not always known...

Author Biography:

Enrico Acerbi born in Valdagno (Vicenza) on 13.8.1952; graduated in medicine, immunohaematologist and specialized in medical toxicology, he worked in the local hospital, now retired. Partner of the War Museum in Rovereto, member of the Napoleonic Association of Italy and historiographer of the Great War. Enrico Acerbi has developed a passion for historical research since the 1990s. For five years he collaborated with the Center for Great War Studies of Asiago. He also collaborated with the Mountain Community of Arsiero as a teacher at the popular university (historical training courses on the First World War) and with the Mountain Community of Agno-Chiampo (reconstruction of the fortifications made during the Great War). Partner of the War Museum of Rovereto and founding member of the Historical Research Group on the Great War of Valdagno, currently engaged in the study of Napoleonic history in Veneto and Italy. Graphic illustrator of articles on Napoleonic history. He has to his credit several historical publications for various publishing houses. This is his ninth work done for Soldiershop.
