This is a true story of a retired combat pilot who fought in the 15-year war of Rhodesia verus Zimbabwe. The sqwabble was settled with the Lancaster House agreement by the waring parties to a ceasefire and a re-election supervised by the United Kingdom. The war had claimed many lives (something like about 50,000) - including about 38 of my mates (most of whom I had known personally). Many were buried when and where they were killed. After the war, I made it my business to find out where they lie buried. This I did and it gave me a measure of 'peace of mind' - especially when I discovered others were doing like wise. I am now 80 years old and nearing the end of my sell-by date. Attending memorial services saps the body of energy - it becomes too much trouble to don a tie and jacket to pay ones respect to those who died so that we may live. "Lest we forget" spurs on dieing bodies - for that "just one more time"!? At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we shall remember my mates.
