Parisian band Nouvelle Vague, whose name means “New Wave” in French and “Bossa Nova” in Portuguese, made a splash in the mid-’00s with their kitschy, jazzy (and very sublime) lounge covers of early ’80s punk and post-punk tunes. The group — Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux with a variety of singers — are back with their fifth LP, I Could Be Happy.
The LP also features bossa nova covers of songs by Cocteau Twins, Brian Eno, Ramones, The Cure, and Richard Hell as well as a handful of originals from the main co-conspirators of the band Olivier Libaux and Marc Collin
