Judith M. Barringer is Professor of Greek Art and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh. She is the author of Divine Escorts: Nereids in Archaic and Classical Greek Art (1995); The Hunt in Ancient Greece (2001); Art, Myth, Ritual in Classical Greece (2008), the award-winning The Art and Archaeology of Ancient Greece (2014) and Olympia: A Cultural History (Princeton UP 2021)). Fran�ois Lissarrague is Directeur d'�tudes Emeritus at the �cole des Hautes �tudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. His extensive publications on images, particularly vase painting, include La cit� des images 1984, Un flot d'images: Une esth�tique du banquet grec (1987); L'autre guerrier: Archers, peltastes, cavaliers dans l'imagerie attique (1990); H�ros et dieux de l'antiquit� Guide iconographique (1994, co-authored with I.
