Description

With contributions from leading international experts, thisessential book gives comprehensive coverage of all areas ofmetallocene catalysts and metallocene-based polyolefins includingdetails of the very latest developments. The manufacture of polyolefins by metallocene catalysts representsa revolution in the polymer industry. The last five years inparticular have seen a dramatic increase in the volume of researchinto metallocenes and the maturing of metallocene technology. The following areas are covered in this comprehensive book:catalyst structure, comonomer incorporation, polymerizationmechanisms and conditions, reactor configurations, specialproperties, comparison with conventional polyolefins, rheologicaland processing behavior and fields of application. This is an invaluable book for plastics engineers, polymerchemists, physicists, materials scientists, and all those workingin the plastics manufacturing and processing industries.

Author Biography:

Dr. John Scheirs has worked extensively with poly and related polyesters. His early work involved studying the UV stability of PET and poly- ethylene naphthalate - in France and later he was involved with studying various industrial problems involving polyesters, such as photodegradation, annealing, crystallization behaviour, embrittlement, degradation by aminolysis, differential scanning calorimetry analysis, environmental stress cracking, hydrolysis, nucleating agents, transesterification, injection moulding of recycled PET compounds, solid-state polycondensation, desiccant drying of PET and melt stabilization of PET. More recently in the period 1998-2000, he was the technical manager for Coca-Cola Amatil's world-first PET reforming plant which converts post-consumer PET bottles into high-grade, high IV palletized PET for direct reuse in new bottles and injection and sheet moulding applications. John Scheirs is now the principal consultant with ExcelPlas Polymer Technology where he specializes in polymer recycling chemistry, formulation, processing and testing. Dr. Duane Priddy is founder and CEO of Plastic Failure Labs. he is a polymer and plastic consultant, expert witness, and forensic scientist in Michigan. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Central Michigan University and as a principal scientist for Dow Chemical Company.
