Herbert Terrace is a Professor of Psychology at Columbia University and director of the Primate Cognition Lab. He is the author of Nim: A Chimpanzee Who Learned Sign Language (Columbia University Press, 1987) and more recently the editor of Agency and Joint Attention (with Janet Metcalfe, Oxford University Press, 2013).
