Philippe Balcou is Director of the Intense Lasers and Applications Centre (CELIA UMR5107. - University Bordeaux 1 / CEA / CNRS); He was awarded the INPI Trophy for Innovation 2007 in the category research organization at national level. Celia, a research laboratory attached to the University Bordeaux 1, CNRS and CEA, in Talence (Gironde), operates in the field of high intensity lasers and high energy density.
